Christ spoke to me in a special way through Justin Kim’s sermon entitled “Looking Unto Jesus”, which was taken from Hebrews 12:1-2. The message began with describing how experiences in life are scripts that we take into our minds that make up who we are. With these scripts, instead of worshiping God, we re-create God into an image that we desire for ourselves to worship. The opposite and better solution is to accustom our selves to the one and only true God. We need to see God as He truly is, as described in His word.
In the latter part of the sermon, we looked at 2 Corinthians 3:18 which tells us that by beholding Christ we become changed into His image. But also by beholding sin we are transformed into its image. This also goes for any and everything. Whatever scripts we fill our minds with, those scripts create our character. As I thought through this message, I realized that when I find myself slipping away from Christ, it is because I am not beholding Him. This is what Christ spoke to my heart most deeply.
